Wow. What is it today with dumbasses in trucks going too damn fast?

The tractor-trailer was travelling southbound on the 404 just after 3:30 p.m. when it tumbled off a ramp and onto the westbound lanes of the 401. The vehicle hit two other vehicles.

To be fair, Have you seen that interchange? It's fucking bonkers. and designed by a complete moron. It would have been coming off the express lane interchange at the top, from what I can tell in the video. I've driven it a lot since my mum's place isn't too far from there, and I absolutely hate it.

Also, you'll probably see this eventually, but tires and prices!

We had four brands with four tires in stock last time I checked, which were:

Motomaster AW/Hs, normally $154.99 per tire, currently $116.24 until Thursday.

Continental Truecontacts, normally $189.99, currently $142.49 until Thursday.

Cooper Zeon RS3s or some shit, $149.97 each.

Lastly, Toyo Turevos or something for $209.99 each.

There are also some other tires in your size, but they're order only.

Add on top of that installation (balancing is $17.50 per tire), the option of nitrogen ($3.99 per tire, I believe), optional alignment for $99.99, TSF of $5.43 per tire (not optional), and an optional warranty of however much per tire (somewhere between $7.99 and $14.99 depending on tire size) which covers you for 100,000 kilometres or five years. Basically, the store will try to repair the tire if it needs to be brought in, and if they can't, then they'll replace that tire and the matching tire(s) for free. At least, that's the spiel as I remember it.

Yeah that looks like where he fell off. Tanks for this, and the tire info!! Last time I just ended up buying the tires and getting them put on elsewhere cause you guys were so busy.

That's busy but looks relatively tidy. You want bonkers? Montreal can do bonkers! This is our (unfortunately) famous Turcot Interchange.

Kinja'd!!!

Take a close look at Hwy 720 coming down from the top-right corner. Do you see it? As it turns into Hwy 20, it crosses over itself - so the eastbound and westbound lanes are on the opposite sides. It continues like this for about 2km before switching back at the next major interchange.

It's held together by chicken wire and hope. It terrifies me every time I cross the main span on Hwy 15 (the two roughly parallel lines cutting through the middle from left to right).

We're going to get a new version of this interchange sometime before the second coming of Christ (presumably). It will cost many billions of dollars and, while it will be (presumably) a vast improvement over the existing setup, will still be a spaghetti monster of embarassing proportions (presumably). One section will look vaguely like a uterus when viewed from above.

I can hardly wait. I can only imagine that the plan vs execution will be something like this cake disaster.

Kinja'd!!!

It will be an epic disaster, and I'd love to be wrong about that...

Holy shit that's terrifying. I just hate the 404/DVP/401 interchange because south to York Mills is always backed up beyond all hope and someone put the Shepard on ramp in a position where people have to very quickly cross three lanes of traffic if they want to keep going south, thus cutting everyone off. Although your drivers would also be Quebecois, which makes that even worse.

You know what? Fuck Canadian highways.

You want fun??

How about this? If you're going westboud you have eastbound lanes on both the left and right. Frogger commence.

I don't know where that is, but I can tell you that one of my life's goals is to never drive the 401. Based on what I've heard, it's probably better that way.

This is in new westminister BC, so not within driving distance to the 401. :)

The interchange itself is surprisingly easy to use, with perhaps one exception: there is a 4-into-3 merge on the southbound 15. You have two lanes of the 15 south joining up with two merging lanes (1 from the 720 west and the other from the 20 east) and they meet in a point. The two outside lanes flow on, but the two inside lanes meet up with no clear indication of what to do and very little space to react. Right of way applies, I suppose? Unless you're in a truck or tall SUV, you can't even see the lanes on the other side because of the tall concrete barriers.

It's a terrible, terrible design from the 1960s that has no place in modern, high-volume traffic flows. And you know what? When a rebuilt section of another local highway was re-opened, they had added a similar feature. Except this time it was on flat land with ample space to do something smarter and safer...

My life goal remains unchanged. I intend to never drive the 401.

In the summer its fun in the winter it's a nightmare. One may ask how one drives from mtl to toronto without it?

I've never been to Toronto, but when I do go, it'll almost certainly be by train.

I've driven the 401 a few times, and each time I've seen serious or fatal accident. One time, we were the slowest one at 120km/h in the right lane...

I've done it, little longer than car, but easy riding to downtown Toronto and free wifi!
